Social Media – Twitter
This was my very first Tweet “Working on my website, http://www.besthomeschoolpl… 11:25 PM Jun 29th from web” and now it’s 136 pages & 2719 tweets later. Not quite 6 months ago I started blogging, and of course with blogging comes social media. And social media begets Twitter. Blogging is definitely the gateway “drug” of all that falls under the “Social Media” umbrella. And if Blogging is the MaryJane equivilant then Twitter is Crack!
Now that I’m done with my metaphors I’ll explain to you what twitter is and why you as a WAHM should use it. Read the rest of this entry »
Marketing Your Product With Squidoo
Squidoo is a website where a network of users can create pages, known as lenses, on various topics that they have knowledge in, or at least have some interest in. Ads are displayed on these lenses, and the users who create them can receive commissions when those ads are clicked upon by their lenses’ visitors. However, you can earn even more by using Squidoo to market your products.
Marketing your own products with Squidoo is very easy. When editing your page, use the “write” feature to add some simple HTML. If you sell information products, you can offer a free ebook or special report and a link for the sign-up form for your newsletter. Once they are your subscriber, you can continue to market your products to them.
You can also use the “write module” to post articles and links to your information product’s landing pages. Providing the content will help you get indexed in the search engines and your visitors will appreciate the fact that they can learn something from your site.
Since each lens should have its own unique topic, you can create a lens for each of the topics you would like to establish yourself as an expert in. You can then create a lens roll and link your lenses together. This can create a stream of traffic for you. If you have other business blogs or feature a podcast on the subject, add that information to your lens as well. If you have created a physical product, you can add pictures of it to your Squidoo site.
In addition to adding content, links, and pictures to your lens, you can join Squidoo groups. If someone is searching for information on a topic, they may choose to find a group on the subject in order to find lenses on that subject. This will also allow you to interact with other people interested in the subject of your lens. This is a ready-made market of people interested in your products.
Just like your website, you will want to keep your lens fresh by adding new content each week. This will encourage your visitors to return again and again. You may want to pick one day each week to add something such as an article or a link to something your visitors may find useful. You can even add links to viral reports and other things that you are offering on your own website.
By using these techniques you can add targeted traffic to your site, increase the size of your mailing list, and add to the number of your customers. Plus, Squidoo is free. You’ll be growing your business and saving money that you may otherwise be spending on pay-per-click programs.
Using Ask.com to market your website and services
You may have heard of the saying, “If you don’t ask for it, you’re not going to get it”. Well, if you want to know what your customers want, ask them! An “Ask Campaign” is a marketing strategy that you can use time and time again to create (and sell) more products and services.
If you have a website devoted to the topic of scrapbooking and are thinking about creating an information product, but are not sure what your customers are looking for, you can set up an ask campaign with the question, “What is your biggest question about scrapbooking?” or “What is holding you back from completing your albums?”, or any other question that you can think of.
You can send out an email to your mailing list, asking them to take part in your survey. You may want to dangle something free in front of them, such as a small report. You simply include a link in the email to your survey page, and then they fill out the questions. Once they have submitted the questions, you can have an autoresponder set up to send them a “thank you” email with the link to the free report.
As you read through the responses, you will notice that some questions get asked many times. Those are the questions that the majority of your visitors want answered, and those are the topics that should be included in your information product.
You can create anything from a special report to an ebook to a teleseminar using this method. You may want to take some time to create the written information and then hold a free teleseminar (and record it). Have someone “interview” you. You can give them the list of frequently asked questions and simply go down the list of questions together. You can do this on a conference line and open the telephone lines at the end of the call in case any of the guests have questions.
You can let your guests know that you have created an ebook or special report on the same subject and that you are going to record that night’s call and include it as a special free bonus for those that buy the special report or ebook. You can even announce the landing page URL on the call and start receiving orders before you are even done with the teleseminar.
An “Ask Campaign” can help you figure out exactly what your customers want. This will save you the time of researching various projects, only to find out that they want information on totally different topics. By using this marketing strategy, you are able to deliver the information they want, plus they will enjoy the fact that you took the time to ask them what they wanted.
marketing using MySpace
For many households, the term “MySpace” is used on a daily basis. The website has definitely become a pop culture phenomenon. If
you do a Google search on the term, over 120 million results are displayed. It seems that almost everyone has a MySpace page –
from your local high school quarterback to the people running for President of the United States.
In basic terms, MySpace is a social networking site. Once users register for a free account, they are given a MySpace page where
they can post personal information and customize. They can upload photographs and are also given access to a blog. Users have
the option of joining MySpace Groups, and they can also connect with other MySpace users and become “friends.” MySpace has a
unique messaging system that allows users to send mail back and forth, and MySpace friends are allowed to post comments on each
other’s pages.
If you simply look at the fact that you are able to network with other people that may share your interests, MySpace sounds like a
good marketing tool. However, there is a debate over whether MySpace is actually a smart marketing move or not.
MySpace has definitely received its fair share of bad press. There have been countless reports of how some evil-minded people use
these types of social networking sites to abuse others, usually teens and preteens.
It is a well known fact that many MySpace users are high school and college students. Therefore, some people feel that it is a
waste of time to market on MySpace, as many users may not be in their target market. Other people may feel that using MySpace as
a marketing tool might make them look unprofessional or immature.
MySpace isn’t just for teenagers. The site offers entertainment for adults as well. For instance, the site has a search function
where people can find old classmates and plan high school reunions and so forth.
Depending on the type of products you offer, you may receive a lot of traffic from having a MySpace page. MySpace’s search
function allows you to search for people by age and gender. You can do a search on the age and gender of your target market and
see what comes up.
You can also try searching for your competition. If they have a MySpace page, take a look at their friends’ list. If they have a
lot of “MySpace Friends”, then it might be worth your time to create your own page.
If you decide to create a page, you may also want to add a link to your MySpace page on your website and blog in order for your
regular visitors to become your “MySpace friend”. As a MySpace user, you will be able to send messages, also known as bulletins,
to your entire friends list. This is a great way to let people know about any upcoming specials or sales that you will be having,
as well as updates to your website.
